Golcar United vs Knaresborough Town

2-024 May 2026· Home
Golcar United Ladies secured a 2-0 victory over Knaresborough Town in a closely contested Premier Division encounter at Longfield Avenue. The home side started brightly and took the lead after just ten minutes when Chloe Roberts capitalised on Elle-Mae Leitch's assist, squirming her finish under the visiting keeper. Golcar maintained their early momentum but faced a determined Knaresborough side who kept the contest tight through the remainder of the first half. The second half saw Golcar extend their advantage six minutes after the restart. Hannah Lynch struck a superb long-range effort that nestled into the top left corner, with Lauren Buckley providing the assist. The team had a dominant spell after the break, but were forced to dig in under late pressure from the visitors. A crucial moment arrived when a superb penalty save kept Golcar's two-goal cushion intact. Elle-Mae Leitch rightfully earned Player of the Match recognition for her influential display and early assist. Caitlin Caselton produced another standout performance, while Roberts followed up her opener with a strong all-round contribution. Ellie Thornton also deserves special recognition for her work throughout. The squad welcomed debutant Larissa Lawson and saw Faith Forde return to action. Despite the light rain, conditions remained good on a well-maintained pitch. Nathan Martin expressed his satisfaction after the final whistle. "Proud of the attitude and togetherness today. We started brightly and set the tone early and it was a proper team performance from minute one. Defensively we were really disciplined and limited them. We know what we're capable of and we'll go again." Golcar travel to face Leeds Medics & Dentists next Sunday at the University of Leeds Sports Park Weetwood, with kick-off at 2:00 PM.
